Types of Crystals

Quartz crystals sometimes have other special attributes that enhance their power. To identify these special types of crystals, pay particular attention to the largest of the faces that slope toward the point. Does it have pyramids (triangles) on it? Count the number of edges surrounding the face. This number can be anywhere from 3 to 8, and is one of the things that determines the special characteristics of the crystal.

In addition to strengthening the Inner Being as all crystals do, the crystals listed below are true teachers and provide additional special help. Most of them are relatively rare, and they should be highly treasured when one of them finds you.

ACTIVATION CRYSTALS are crystals with an inclined window located on the left or right side of the primary face of the crystal. The function of these crystals has been found to activate left and right side brain activity by synthesizing the brains abilities.

ANGEL AURA CRYSTALS (Opal Aura, Rainbow Aura)

CATHEDRAL LIBRARY (or Lightbrary): these may look as if they are made of separate parts but each is a single crystal almost identical to the others and bonded completely into a Mother crystal they are sometimes mistaken for elestials but they are very different they usually have only a single termination and have a stepped appearance from a kind of internal double spiral formation they are both connectors to the Universal Sacred and storehouses of information They are group teaching crystals sharing attunement with what is called God and Love and the quest for greater truth and knowledge. They are in a way impersonal crystals working with groups and sharing information and  light with all who seek to receive from them.

CHANNELING CRYSTALS have seven edges surrounding the largest sloping face. These crystals are especially useful for obtaining information from deep within yourself or from sources that are outside of your normal realm. They can help you draw on the knowledge and information that is provided by the universe, and can aid you in getting help from a higher source. A channelling crystal can be used anytime you are seeking answers or help from outside of yourself. You must `listen' very carefully when using this crystal and realise that answers can come from many sources.

Communication with Guide: A channelling crystal is a line of communication with sources outside you. Generally, the main source is your guide. A guide is a non-physical entity whose primary job is to look after you. Every human being has a guide. Guides are sometimes called other things, such as conscience, or angels, but they are always with us. We must learn to listen to what they have to say.

Your guide will never tell you what to do, or interfere in other ways with what you want to do, but your guide is there to help you find answers for yourself. And you can use your channelling crystal to let your guide be your conscience. A channelling crystal can only be used by the person holding it. In other words, you can't send the energy to someone else in order to let him receive the information directly. However, since guides communicate readily with each other, you can become good at getting information to people by asking your guide to give you the needed information for someone else, and then relaying it to the person. This is how you channel information for others. Channelling crystals amplify the quiet inner voice of your guide, and can be a big help in learning how to channel information, both for yourself and for others.

CHERRY QUARTZ CRYSTALS

Cherry Quartz is a healer for emotional wounds, dissipates anger & tension. Improves metabolism, reduces inflammation, increases blood flow. Helps with arthritis. Releases resentment, anger. Good for luck. An excellent earth healer due to it’s copper content.

CRYSTAL CLUSTERS Crystal clusters cleanse the environment, can offer protection, purification and are also used to cleanse and energise other crystals. Try them as room stones to energise your environment.

CRYSTALS WITH CHLORITE are clear quartz crystal with rutile and inclusions of green coloured chlorite. Chlorite is one of the most favourable healing stones. Worn, carried or placed in ones environment, the properties of chlorite are overwhelmingly positive. It brings the energy to enhance cooperation and stimulates ones personal affinity with "All". CURVED QUARTZ This curved quartz formation is recognised as either curvature of the whole crystal, as in the picture, or curvature of the individual sides in an apparently straight crystal. It is said to be caused by larger than normal amounts of energy being channelled by these crystals during their growth. The structure of the curved crystal provides for a continuous (when in ones energy field) alignment of the physical meridians and the nervous system, and the alignment of the physical, emotional, mental, etheric, astral, etc., bodies, singularly and with one another.”

These stones smooth out any imbalances in the energy flow of the meridians and subtle bodies, enabling the body to re-establish a healthier, more balanced system. DOW CRYSTAL – TRANS-CHANNEL Recognised by 3 seven sided faces separated on each side by a triangular face.  They combine the qualities of the transmitter and channelled crystal. It is the crystal for creativity and service to humanity through both spiritual and mystical pursuits. The Dow Crystal is named after the person who recognized its metaphysical properties - Jane Ann Dow.

DOUBLE TERMINATED CRYSTALS are crystals that have points on both ends, allowing energy to flow readily in both directions. Double terminated crystals strengthen energy flow, and are especially useful when you need to share or exchange energy between you and another person. They are useful when you are working to help other people, for example in massage or counselling, where energy needs to flow in both directions. In these situations, energy flows toward you when you tune in to a person to find out what that person needs,  and energy flows from you when you give the person the needed healing energy. Double terminated crystals are very important to people doing healing work for themselves or others. They also help teach sharing through energy exchange.

Exercise: If you are feeling out of balance with the world, sit quietly and hold the double terminated crystal in your right hand. Visualize white light flowing into the first point, through the crystal and out the other point directly into your body. If working with someone else, visualize energy flowing into you through the top of your head, down your arm, through the crystal, and into the other person. This can be done while you are with the person or it can work from a distance. If you have children, try using this crystal to send positive energy to the child when the child is upset or angry. It can have a very calming effect on both of you.

DRUSY CRYSTAL These are tiny crystals that have either formed over another crystal or on matrix.

ELESTIAL CRYSTALS An Elestial crystal has numerous natural terminations occurring along the main point. Elestials are considered to assist in the mass cleansing, healing and reawakening that is occurring in these times. Bringers of strength, they can assist in overcoming emotional burdens and bring body and spirit into synchronicity whilst connecting us with the Angelic realms. For those who wish it Elestials can provide information that enables us to move forward or overcome blockages in our spiritual path and align us with the wisdom of the universe. They bring into the now the elusive, intuitive thoughts we chase about past, present and future accelerating our path towards the light.

They occur in many types of crystals. The example here is a red hematite included quartz.

EMPATHIC CRYSTALS Empathic crystals are ones which are chipped or damaged in some way.

They promote understanding, compassion, kindness and empathy. They open and heal the hearts of those who have closed them while also protecting the open-hearted from too much pain.

ENHYDRO CRYSTALS Enhydro crystals contain fluid, most often water although some very rare cases plant oil. A bubble of gas moves through the water. Enhydros really resonate. Contained within each enhydro crystal is water that has remained unchanged and pure for eons. As such I have always associated enhydros with cleansing and purification, be it emotional, spiritual or mundane.

Water is also a great element for dream or meditation work. It is the element of feeling and as such helps me intuit the information I am receiving correctly. In cases where the bubbles move in these earth treasures they also teach us to flow easily through our troubles much as the bubbles freely flow in the pockets of water. I have also found them very helpful in healing and divination work.

ETCHED QUARTZ CRYSTALS The etched quartz crystal can be recognized by the existence of abrasions upon the outer areas of the crystal. The abrasions appear to be a type of hieroglyphics. This formation has been used to facilitate contact and the transfer of information from the Ancient Egyptian civilizations and from Lemuria and Atlantis. The transliteration of the symbols brings information relevant to ones life at the time of translation. They were once used the healing temples of the ancient civilizations and the markings also contain information of experiences in which they have participated. They also have contained information with respect to the healing methodology which has been proven successful over eons of time and throughout the universe. They have been accessed during the meditative state and have provided information concerning techniques utilized in the ancient civilizations of the Earth and of other locations in the universe.

EXTRA-TERRESTRIAL CRYSTAL An Extra- Terrestrial crystal is double terminated with a single point at one end at one end and multiple terminations at the other end. It is thought to help in channelling angels, guides and space beings.

FADEN CRYSTAL  A crystal that has a milky feathery line or threads that usually runs through the centre of the crystal. Faden lines are often found in tabby shaped crystals. It is thought that the line is a seed point of growth they help to activate or start new spiritual growth within one's self and promote emotional and mental stability.

FAIRY QUARTZ

Spirit Quartz also known as Fairy Quartz emits multi-spectrum healing energy along with peacefulness and protection. They bring harmony to all who are near and are being used in families, communities, organizations, and businesses to promote group cohesiveness and willingness to work together.

FLAME AURA CRYSTALS (Titanium Aura)

Titanium Aura or Flame Aura is one of the strongest and most beautiful of all the auras. Flame Aura is the name for quartz that has been treated with titanium. The natural quartz cluster has been specially treated in a process where a molecular layer of titanium plus other metals has been fused to the surface of the quartz. This results in a permanent colouring of the surface creating a brilliant effect.

The amazing colours are permanent and will neither rub off nor fade. Because the colours are produced by blending natural substances with a natural affinity, and not by a dye, the metaphysical properties are enhanced.

GATEWAY CRYSTAL Gateway crystals are recognised by an opening from the side or face of a crystal to the interior. This is usually deeper than keys. Used to gain access to information and planes from which you are normally excluded. Healing concepts and illusive aspects of ourselves can be unlocked, therefore an extremely useful crystal for helping with intuitive diagnostics.

GENERATOR CRYSTALS (also called Merlin Crystals) Generator crystals, have 6 equal sides and 6 faces that meet together at a centrally located point. They can be used to positively charge and energise both your own bodies and the environment. They are excellent for stimulating your chakras and directing energy precisely which explains why most healing wands are cut in this formation.

GOLDEN HEALER CRYSTALS Are quartz crystals which are partially or totally covered with a transparent golden yellow mineral. This has been used to assist one in attaining and maintaining contact with the spiritual worlds and to incite healing on all levels. It is an excellent stone for use in all healing situations and promotes the recognition of methods and techniques which will further recovery from all disorders.

GROUNDING CRYSTALS have eight edges surrounding the largest sloping face. They are quite rare and not always easily available. Grounding is the ability to deal with practical matters in a realistic way. For example, in dealing with the question `How am I going to make a living?' A grounded person will consider his skills and decide how best to use those skills to make a living. An ungrounded or `spacey' person does not like to deal with the practical or realistic aspects of life. Grounding crystals help you deal with practical matters in a realistic way. They connect you with the earth and keep your energies from being scattered. They help you think clearly and express yourself clearly. When used in meditation they help you form a strong connection with higher knowledge, but keep you grounded so that you can apply that information in practical terms. When using a grounding crystal to work through a personal problem, remember that it will require you to look at the truth of the situation and compel you to deal with that truth. It is sometimes difficult to recognise times when you need this crystal because not being grounded can be a way of life for some people. These days, it is common to be a little spacey because of things going on in our world. When you are having trouble concentrating, feeling a reluctance to tackle a task that needs doing, or find yourself running in circles but accomplishing nothing, you need a grounding crystal.

GROWTH INTERFERENCE CRYSTAL A crystal that has various cuts on the body that appears to have been done with a trim saw. Thin, flat calcite crystals have interfered with the growth pattern of the quartz crystal. It is believed this crystal will help remove self limitations and energy blockages so that you can be completely in command of your life.

HARLEQUIN CRYSTAL / FIRE CRYSTAL Harlequin crystals have an uplifting, joyful energy which supplies vitality to the body. A good crystal to have around when you need to boost your physical energy or to gain enthusiasm and for opening the heart chakra.

INCLUDED QUARTZ CRYSTALS

Contain the properties of the mineral that is ‘included’ in the crystal.  For example, Chlorite Included means that the quartz crystal contains inclusions of chlorite.

ISIS CRYSTALS have five edges surrounding the largest sloping face. These crystals strongly amplify the feminine energy, and can help you get in touch with the 'female' or unselfish side of yourself, no matter whether you are a man or a woman. These crystals are useful in balancing your male-female energy if the female energy has been suppressed, or if you need a greater balance of female energy for any reason. Isis crystals put you in touch with the power of the Goddess. For men, the Isis crystal will help you become more in tune with your feminine side and to become more aware of the aspects of women that you may  find troubling. For women, the Isis crystal will help you regain some of the power and energy that society has taken from you. Teaches that feminine is not weak.

Anyone doing healing work with another person needs the Isis energy to be effective. The Isis crystal should be carried or held when dealing with issues that are emotional and difficult.

KEY CRYSTALS A key crystal has a natural indentation in it. As the name implies they will aid in unlocking solutions to problems, give fresh insight into healing and help with introspective questions regarding self. "Used to unlock the "doors" to healing concepts and those aspects of the self which tend to be illusive. It also assists one in accessing that which is hidden in any situation. One can place the crystal on letters, photographs, etc., in order to gain admittance to concealed or obscure messages which are inherent." Very useful for healers and intuitive diagnostics.

LASER WANDS are recognized by their long slenderness with small faces at the point, with the crystal being wider at the bottom.
Laser Wand crystals (Laser Wand) are pointers of the crystal world. They focus energy very precisely where they are pointed. They are good for psychic surgery because of this. They are also noted for helping with communication and meditation on other dimensions and worlds. It is said that they clear negativity, create protective barriers, focus healing energy to self or others, and assist in performing psychic surgery to remove attitudes that may be causing disease.

LEMURIAN QUARTZ CRYSTALS

Lemurians are said to have been placed here by the original space beings who inhabited Lemuria.
These crystals have a warm feeling to them. It is believed that they were programmed to transmit frequencies to other crystals that were forming in the earth, and offer a connection to the many sacred places located upon and under the earth's surface. They create a holographic connection between the inner earth and the earth's surface. Only one Lemurian Seed Crystal is required to connect holographically to all the other seed crystals. This energetic connection forms a magnetic grid around the earth which links us to the inner and outer worlds.
Lemurian seed crystals, once thought to originate from only the Joaquim Felicio region of Minas Gerias, Brazil, are now found in Diamatina and Corinto too. Triangular faces sitting atop sides with pronounced horizontal striations are characteristic of these crystals.
They are clear quartz crystals, but have a dull look rather than a sheen. Some of them exhibit a pink hue.

LITHIUM QUARTZ

Naisha Ashian in her book "The Book of Stones" say that Lithium Quartz is a heart healing stone, which works by alleviating stress, calming frayed nerves and allowing one to relax.

This naturally opens one to approach the world from a more balanced heart space.

Lithium Quartz also has super high energy healing and is an all round balancing stone. It sends and receives energy as well as storing it. Lithium quartz is used in crystal healing as a natural antidepressant.

Emotionally and other ways, lithium quartz is said to relieve stress, anxiety, and tension, bringing relaxation and peace. It works in a gentle and slow but steady and powerful manner, not causing the discomfort of sudden change that some crystals might bring at times.

Lithium quartz is excellent for meditation and prayer. It is an excellent stone for children to use at the end of the day in order to become calm and centered before dreamtime.

LODALITE QUARTZ

Lodolite makes communication on the spiritual planes more accessible, bringing about a transmutation of your higher spiritual energies. It also gives you the ‘key to your inner knowledge’ from past life times.

Lodolite is in fact a quartz crystal with mineral inclusions - has the appearance of an underwater coral scene.

The mineral inclusions vary from stone to stone and the colours of the inclusions can range from green, pink, yellow, brown, white, red and multi-colours.

Lodolite (Lodolite - Latin) is found at one site only in MINAS GERAIS in the Minas State in Brazil. Lodolite (Greek) means mud stone or stone from the mud.

Lodolite crystals enable you to make contact with the crystal Divas and guides contained within the crystal. It makes communication on the spiritual plane more accessible, bringing about a transmutation of your higher spiritual energies.

PHANTOM CRYSTALS

A phantom is a crystal that has had some impurity drop on it during growth, but then continues to grow right around the impurity. Either of these types of crystal can help you heal from being hurt, heal from emotional injuries. These are important crystals that will usually come into your life at a time when you are carrying a lot of pain. Just sitting with this crystal will help you deal with the pain effectively.

RAINBOW CRYSTALS have a rainbow reflected from within the crystal. Usually they are best viewed in sunlight. These crystals are especially good as meditation crystals for working deep within the subconscious. They work particularly well to lighten the mood for people experiencing sadness, grief or depression. Just holding a rainbow crystal can lighten your mood. Rainbow crystals are also very good at drawing negativity from a room or a situation. Always cleanse a crystal that has been used to clear negativity by letting it sit in the sunshine for a while.

RECORD KEEPERS have a pyramid shaped indention or elevation that appears to be etched on one of the sloping faces. These are fairly rare, and often the pyramid will not be noticed until the crystal comes into the hands of the person it was meant to work with. Sometimes the pyramid can disappear and sometimes more pyramids show up. Each of these crystals has its own special lesson to teach, usually the lesson the person most needs to learn. Record keepers differ from window crystals in that window crystals help you look inside yourself to let you see the various things you need to learn, while record keepers deal with a specific lesson that you need to learn. A record keeper will often pass from your hands very quickly once the lesson is learned.

Carry your record keeper or put it close to your bed so that it can work with you. It can also be used for meditation. Some crystals have several special characteristics, i.e. an Isis with a Record. In this case there is a specific lesson to learn that deals with the feminine side of your energy. If you have an Isis with a window it means that you need to look inside to find the areas in your feminine side that are causing you problems.

RUTILATED QUARTZ CRYSTALS

Rutilated quartz is reputed to be an energising stone that helps get energy moving on all levels. Intuitive sources say that it assists with mental focus. It is also said to attract love and stabilise relationships.

Rutilated Quartz can help slowed Chakras return to normal spin and balance.

Emotionally, Rutilated quartz is said to be very helpful in uncovering the causes of mental issues and hang-ups. It is reputed to diminish fears and be excellent at assisting with decision making processes. It is said that it can also ease loneliness and relieve guilt thereby bringing happiness. It is used metaphysically to help one get out of a rut with their life as well as for stabilising emotions and mental processes, clarifying thought patterns and emotional reactions.

Rutilated quartz is also said to increase one's self-reliance and ability to find one's own way.

In the psychic and spiritual realms, Rutilated quartz is used for meditation, spiritual communications, and dream work. SCEPTER CRYSTAL A large termination formed around the top of a crystal shaft. Traditionally used by shamans and wise ones they have an ancient energy. Reverse sceptre crystals are narrower at the point that the shaft and a re marvellous tools for inward reflection and co-creating the highest spiritual good.

SEER STONES

Window Quartz (also called Seer Stone, Dreamer's Crystal, or Emma's Egg) is a wonderment of nature formed in the Elbe River in Southern Brazil.

These river tumbled chunks of quartz are frosty white on the outside, with a polished flat side or "window" revealing a world of depth and wonder in the quartz inside.

SELF HEALED CRYSTALS A self-healed crystal is one that has been broken off and damaged quite badly, but then begins to grow again.

SHOVEL QUARTZ CRYSTALS assists one in encountering the different aspects of self.

SINGING CRYSTALS can be any pair of crystals which sound musical (like tinkling) when gently rolled together in the hands. These are often similar in shape to a laser wand .
The crystals are acting as a musical instrument and the singing is a physical rather than an internal mystical event.

Hold the crystals together in one hand and gently roll them together. Some crystals can be heard in the subtle energy way by those who have the ability to sense subtle energy as sound.

RECORD KEEPERS have a pyramid shaped indention or elevation that appears to be etched on one of the sloping faces or sides.
